Something strange happened over the weekend. In hindsight, it seems almost a little unreal to me. Anyway, I am pretty confused. But one after the other.
I was sitting on the balcony, still in the same gloomy mood. The setting sun flooded the sky with the wildest colors, but that didn't have any effect on me. It's amazing how numb you become to beauty when everything feels meaningless. Suddenly, something scurried past me, through the open balcony door and into the house. A small furry animal, probably a squirrel. (If I'm being completely honest, what I saw was the creature from my dreams, the Wolpertinger. Of course, that's impossible. I only saw it out of the corner of my eye and my senses must have played tricks on me).
I put out my cigarette and went inside. Somehow I had to get the creature out of there. At first it was nowhere to be found. Slowly I walked past Leo's and past my room. Something was strange in the opposite hallway. To the right it leads into Jin's room and to the left is the library. This is one of the rooms in the house that we don't use at all. As far as I know, no one has been in there for many years. But now the door was open.
Curious, I took a look inside. It was gloomy and everything was covered with a thick layer of dust. A few pale rays of light fell in through the cracks of the closed shutters. My footsteps whirled up so much dust that the whole room filled with clouds of dancing particles. No sign of a squirrel or anything. I held my breath, listened, and let my eyes wander over the cobwebbed bookshelves. My eyes lingered on a book lying open on a table in the middle of the room. It seemed to be the only object in the room not covered in dust. As if someone had just put it there. Slowly, I walked closer over the creaking floorboards. It was a small book in an ancient-looking leather binding. I tried to read something, but found that I couldn't. The letters were kind of strange. Familiar and yet different. On the open page, a passage was underlined in pencil. It said:
Does that make any sense? What kind of language is this? Have any of you seen characters like this before? Can anyone translate? I have taken the book with me and stare into it for hours without understanding a word. But I can't deny that it has some kind of attraction to me.
